—Stella

Stella is a party member in Aveyond 3-1: Lord of Twilight, Aveyond 3-2: Gates of Night, and Aveyond 3-4: The Darkthrop Prophecy; and is a non-playable character in Aveyond 3-3: The Lost Orb. She first joins Mel's party in their quest to stop the Lord of Twilight Gyendal Ravenfoot from conquering the Overworld. After defeating him, Stella briefly retires from adventuring before embarking on another quest to save the world. Stella becomes the leader of her own party as she endeavors to save her friend Mel from the clutches of Gyendal and stop the Darkthrop Prophecy.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Stella was born in Naylith. When she was young, she became the guardian of the Orb of Light, one of the four Orbs of magic created by the infamous sorcerer Mordred Darkthrop. For many years, Stella resided in Seer's Cavern where she protected the Orb, until one night when Gyendal and some of his henchmen attacked her. Gyendal grievously mutilated Stella by tearing off her wings and, unbeknownst to Stella, also placed a spell on her which would allow him to see everything that she could see and control her actions on command. Stella fled Seer's Cavern for her life, with Gyendal and his henchmen in close pursuit. After being cornered at a sheer cliff, Gyendal pushed Stella off into the Ruins below.

Lord of Twilight[]

As Stella fell, she glowed brightly amidst the night sky, giving the appearance of a shooting star. Stella's fall was observed from the distant city of Thais by two of her future friends, Mel, and Edward, who decided to investigate the landing site of the "shooting star" the following morning. When both of them arrived at the ruins and found her unconscious on the ground, Edward awakened her. After her fall, Stella had been inflicted with amnesia, and she forgot who she was and why she was in the ruins. When he discovered that Stella sustained a broken leg, Edward offered to carry her back to Thais, much to the aggrievance of Mel. Edward and Stella made their way to the temple in Thais, where Stella's leg was healed by a priestess. Later, Mel went to the temple to give Stella her ring, which had her name inscribed on it. Stella remembered her name and remained in the temple for the rest of the day to recover.

Later that night, Stella had fully recovered, and left the temple. She distantly followed Mel, and saw the struggle between her and some of Gyendal's henchmen. Stella proceeded to follow Mel to her apartment, where she eavesdropped on Mel's conversation with Te'ijal and Galahad. This made her remember that her attackers at Seer's Cavern were vampires and suspect that she was also a descendant of Mordred Darkthrop. Stella entered Mel's apartment to join her on her adventure to find the Orb of Light. Mel accepted her request, and the two, along with Edward, set off to Naylith the following day.

When the trio eventually reached Naylith Summit, Stella discovered a room hidden behind a crack in a wall. Once the crack was blasted open, Mel's party discovered a journal, which Stella could decipher. The journal read, "The Quarter Keys you must bring to open up the Way." Soon after, the party read a map of the world with the locations of the four Quarter Keys marked on the map. Finally, Stella discovered the recepticle where the Quarter Keys were to be placed.

Stella accompanied Mel and Edward on their journey to Harburg to link up with Te'ijal and Galahad. Mel and her party elected to acquire the Quarter Key in Istir Forest first since it was the closest. Once they entered Quin Castle, they found Beauty sleeping within. After failing to awaken her, Mel wanted to move along with her quest, but Stella beseeched her to find a way to wake Beauty from her slumber. Mel reluctantly agreed, and the party returned to Thais to spread word about Beauty's plight. Eventually, Mel and her party discovered that the infamous witch Heptitus had cursed Beauty to sleep forever until kissed by her true love, Eston. They then found Eston and cured his blindness, and followed him back to Quin Castle where he kissed Beauty and broke her curse. As a reward, Beauty gave Mel's party a Quarter Key, but Heptitus stole it soon after to avenge her foiled plot.

Gates of Night[]

Afterwards, Stella travelled with Mel's party as they trekked the world in search of the four Quarter Keys, fighting, questing, and solving puzzles alongside them. Along the journey, Edward could develop a romantic relationship with Stella. If he did so and proposed to Stella, she accepted, and gave Edward her most prized possession: the Feather of Eternity, which could restore life to the dead.

Eventually, Mel and her party collected all four Quarter Keys and placed them in their recepticle, causing a Raicho Egg to appear. Stella accompanied them in their brief detour to Moo Hatchery to hatch the Raicho Egg and their trip up to Rose Forest. When Mel's party reached the cliff that Stella fell from, Stella remembered the identities of her attackers and recalled the events of the night of her fall. In particular, she realized that Gyendal had torn off her wings. Stella cried at the loss of her wings, and swore revenge against Gyendal for maiming her so. Soon after, Stella went with Mel's party as they ventured into the Seer's Cavern.

As Mel's party entered the cavern, they met the legendary hero Hercules, who asked them to slay a giant that had been eating the local Naylithians for him. Stella fought alongside Mel and her party against the giant, but just before they could kill it, Hercules rushed in and struck the killing blow, taking all the credit for the true heroes' hard work. Stella then remembered the location of a hidden switch in the room the giant once lurked in, and activated it, revealing a passage to the chamber where the Orb of Light lay. At this point, Mel and her party were still unsure if Stella was another descendant of Mordred Darkthrop, so Te'ijal suggested that Mel hand Stella the Orb to test her linneage. However, when Stella was handed the Orb of Light, she dropped it. When confronted, Stella told the party that she felt compelled to destroy the Orb. Te'ijal soon deduced that Stella was the Guardian of the Orb of Light and Gyendal had placed Stella under a mind control spell that forced her to do his bidding. Overcome with grief after the loss of both the Orb and her wings, Stella became suicidal, and suggested that Mel should kill her, but they refused to do so. Mel's party soon departed Seer's Cavern on a journey to Aveyond to consult the Oracle on their new course of action.

As Mel's party returned to Istir Forest, a blizzard rolled in, greatly reducing the party's visibility. Mel's party took shelter in a cave on the way to Aveyond, and rested through the blizzard. However, when they woke up, Stella was missing. She had beside herself with grief and wandered off into the blizzard to kill herself. Te'ijal convinced the party to leave her and move on to Aveyond. When Mel's party spoke the the Oracle, she revealed that Stella needed to live for them to be able to defeat Gyendal, and so the group set off to search for the wayward healer. Mel's party eventually found Stella freezing in a cave, and quickly warmed her up with a fire before she died. Suddenly, Gyendal appeared through a portal, and captured Mel. He revealed that he could spy on Mel's party through Stella, and suggested that they kill her before dragging Mel off to Ghed'ahre. The rest of Mel's party didn't oblige, and Stella travelled with them as they set off to find the Orb of Life and rescue Mel.

When the party reached the end of the Memory Cave where the Orb of Life laid, Stella offered to stay behind with the Orb so that Gyendal couldn't see the rest of the group moving towards the Ghed'ahre Cathederal to rescue Mel. Once Mel and her party returned to Stella, they puzzled at how to properly use the Orb of Life. Lydia's destructive magic had no effect, so Stella suggested that she use her healing magic instead. However, Gyendal soon attacked Mel and her party, and invoked his spell upon Stella once again, forcing her to constantly heal him throughout the fight. Once Gyendal was first struck down by Mel's party, Stella revived him. Gyendal commanded her to heal him again, and Stella obeyed, but healed her friends simultaneously. Gyendal became annoyed at this, to which Stella responded that he didn't order her to not heal Mel's party. Mel quickly realized that Gyendal's control over Stella wasn't perfect and told her to use her healing magic on the Orb of Life. Stella poured all of her magic into the Orb, causing it to emit a pulse of energy that cured Gyendal, Te'ijal, and Galahad of their vampirism. Unfortunately, this action cost Stella her life, and Mel and her party briefly mourned her death. However, if Edward had the Feather of Eternity, he used it to bring Stella back to life, and rejoiced at her return. Mel and her party dragged Gyendal off to Thais, where the former vampire was subsequently sentenced to 200 years imprisonment. If Stella was alive at this time, she and Edward would be married the next day.

The Lost Orb[]

If Stella had died after Mel's first battle with Gyendal, the Oracle and the priestesses of Thais revived her, and she subsequently attended Edward's wedding. If Stella was revived by the Feather of Eternity, Lydia stuffed her into a closet before she could attend her wedding with Edward. Lydia then disguised herself as Stella and tricked Edward into marrying her. Stella would rush in too late to stop the wedding, and became infuriated with Edward for forsaking their betrothal. Afterwards, Stella remained at the Thais temple, where Mel later confided in her her encounter with the mysterious Nox and the existence of the remaining Orb of Magic: the Orb of Death. Stella thought that Nox was trying to trick Mel into fulfilling the Darkthrop Prophecy, in which she or another descendant of Mordred Darkthrop would conquer the world, and tried to dissuade Mel from pursuing the Orb of Death. Mel's resolve prevailed, and she set off to Eldrion to find the Orb. Stella requested that Mel at least tell Edward where she was going, and Mel lied that she would. Stella wrote a letter to Edward informing him of Mel's departure anyways.

Later, Stella moved to Moo Hatchery to work as Professor Moo's assistant after Willette had gone missing. Professor Moo told Stella that he would help her get her wings back, which made Stella optimistic about her future. Despite this, Stella still attempted to dissuade Mel from seeking the Orb of Death at every opportunity, and refused every offer that Mel made to join her on her quest. She also beseeched Edward to return to Thais after he initially left upon Gyendal's escape from prison. Stella later recieved a rabbit that Mel caught in Peliad's intelligence agency, and cared for it and its litter of bunnies over the next several weeks.

The Darkthrop Prophecy[]

Stella remained at Moo Hatchery until one day, when she was kidnapped by Gyendal, who planned to use her as a bargaining chip for a forthcoming confrontation with Mel. Gyendal placed her at the back of a hunter's cabin on the eastern island of the Arishta Isles. When Mel eventually entered the hunter's cabin, Gyendal had two darklings drag Stella out before her to force her compliance through fear for her friend's life. After Gyendal threatened to kill Stella if Mel didn't follow him to Underfall, Mel relented, despite Stella's protestation. Stella was released just before Mel was dragged through the portal to Underfall, and ran off to the city of Veldarah to find Edward. Once she found Edward in Shadwood Academy, she told Edward that Mel had once again been kidnapped by Gyendal. Stella and Edward realized that they needed more help to take on the former Lord of Twilight, and set off to Sedona to find their old friends Te'ijal and Galahad.

Once the pair arrived at Te'ijal and Galhad's house, the couple were initially elated to see their old friends again. However, the mood quickly became dour when Edward informed them that Gyendal had kidnapped Mel. Galahad was adamant in going off to rescue Mel, but Te'ijal sulked and refused to come. Galahad resorted to using the wedding certificate that he and his wife signed over 300 years ago to force Te'ijal to accompany him. Stella pointed out that the certificate was legal now that they were no longer undead, to which Te'ijal cried out in horror and fainted. Galahad told Stella and Edward that he and Te'ijal needed to prepare for their quest to assist the King in catching Sedona's gem thief in the meanwhile.

After Stella and Edward solved both the mysteries of the gem thief and Sedona's missing princess, Galahad and Te'ijal joined Stella's party, and the group travelled to the hunter's cabin where Mel was abducted to search for clues. Once they reached the cabin, they couldn't find any leads. Soon after, Mel's personal servant, Yemite, appeared before them and told Edward to accompany her to Underfall. When Galahad attempted to kill Yemite, Stella stopped him from doing so, believing that Yemite could know of Mel's whereabouts. Edward refused to travel with Yemite unless the rest of the group could come as well, so Yemite reluctantly joined Stella's party as they journeyed to Underfall on foot.

Once Stella's party eventually arrived at the Underfall Cathederal, they witnessed Mel being pushed through the Demon Portal by Gyendal and Yemite leaving their group to join her. Stella and her party decided against rushing through the Demon Portal, as the Demon Realm would kill them once they arrived. Te'ijal noted that only evil creatures could survive the demon realm, and came up with the idea of calling upon Beatrice in Ghed'ahre to turn her back into a vampire. When Stella asked Te'ijal why she waited so long to become a vampire again, Te'ijal responded that she was too embarrassed to have Beatrice as her maker. Once they met Beatrice, however, she instead bit Galahad. He volunteered to travel to the Demon Realm and rescue Mel, and later rushed through the Demon Portal before its guards could stop him. In the meanwhile, Stella and the rest of her party awaited Mel and Galahad's return in Underfall.

Once they, along with Yemite, returned to the Overworld through the Demon Portal, Stella noticed that Mel had a strange staff in her possession and was acting strangely. She became greatly worried as she witnessed Mel commanding her newfound army of darklings to imprison not just Gyendal, but also the rulers of the nations of Aia, thus conquering the world and completing the Darkthrop Prophecy. Stella tried to dissuade Mel from creating the Empire of Darkness, but to no avail. The Oracle then appeared before Stella's party and told them to come to Aveyond immediately, and so they set off.

At Aveyond, the Oracle informed Stella's party that Mel and Galahad were corrupted by the demonic influence of the Demon Realm, and that Mel in particular was currently possessed by the Staff of Destiny. She then told them that Mel and Gyendal's souls could only be cleansed by the Stone of Aya, and even then, only once Mel and the Staff of Destiny are separated. The Oracle told Stella's party to travel to Mysten Far to obtain the Stone of Aya, and they embarked on a journey there.

Once Stella's party arrived at Mysten Far, a priestess informed them that the only way to obtain the Stone of Aia would be for one of pure heart and mind to pass the Trials of Citrelium atop Mt. Orion. Stella volunteered to undertake the trials alone, and Edward and Te'ijal awaited her return. Stella climbed Mt. Orion, and passed the numerous trials of purity along the way. Eventually, she reached a chamber in Mt. Orion where she met the Lady of Light. As a reward for passing the trials, the Lady of Light gave Stella her wings back, and told her that the Stone of Aya lay in the Dreamland, and that the key to open the Dreamland was above her. Stella then flew up to the top of Mt. Orion and retrieved the Hunter's Horn, then flew back down to Mysten Far where she reunited with her party.

Together; Stella, Edward, and Te'ijal ventured into the Dreamland and found the Stone of Aia. They then swiftly returned to Underfall to confront Mel and cure her of her demonic possession. Mel resisted Stella's attempts to separate her from the Staff of Destiny, and fought her and her party alongside Galahad and Yemite. Stella subdued Mel's party, and was about to purify them with the Stone of Aya, when the sorcerer Mordred Darkthrop suddenly appeared, took the Staff of Destiny, and revealed his scheme to usurp Mel and take the Empire of Darkness for himself. He struck Mel with a powerful spell, but before he could kill her, Stella and her party rushed to her defense and battled the evil wizard. Mordred was finally killed by Stella and her party, and Stella successfully cleansed the souls of Mel and Galahad. Stella then witnessed Gyendal and the Staff of Destiny being shot through the Demon Portal by Te'ijal.

Legacy[]

After completing her quest, Stella travelled with Edward, Mel, and the rest of the party back to Thais, where Edward was to choose a bride to marry and ascend to the throne the next day. Canonically, Edward chose to marry Stella, and she became the Queen of Thais after the wedding. If Edward chose to marry someone else, Stella returned to Naylith where she married an unknown male Naylithian.

Personality[]

Stella is a kind-hearted and gentle soul who likes to help others in need. She can see the good in almost everyone and form bonds with them once she travels with them long enough. Stella does her best to maintain a cheerful and optimistic disposition throughout her life. Stella is also fond of (most) animals and other cute things, and will express joy when she is gifted one. Stella's personality allows her to diplomatically resolve problems she may encounter, while her drive to help others makes her very approachable and friendly. Stella's willingness to help anyone, even seemingly evil creatures such as witches and darklings, has even benefitted her companions thanks to the various rewards that they receive thanks to her kindness.

Despite this, Stella is not spineless; she will stand up for herself and others when pushed to do so, and will fight back against any enemy in any way she can. Stella will bear hatred for anyone that hurts her or her friends, though she only does this rarely. Stella is also a brave and loyal friend, willing to risk her own life to protect her loved ones. Though she does not relish it, Stella can and has killed those who have threatened herself, her friends, or Aia at large. Overall, Stella is a gentle, yet courageous heroine.

Relationships[]

Mel Darkthrop[]

Hello, Mel. You look nice today.

—Stella

Mel is one of Stella's best friends. When they first met, Stella and Mel had a somewhat rocky relationship, with Mel being annoyed at Stella for stealing Edward's attention away from exploring the ruins with her. When Stella later sought refuge in Mel's apartment after believing herself to also be pursued by vampires, Mel rejected her and sent her away. The two would later occasionally clash over Stella wanting to help others that she met in her travels and Mel wanting to remain focused on her quest. Over time, however, the two warmed up to each other. Even when Stella was mind controlled by Gyendal at the Memory Cave, Stella took the initiative to utilize the Orb of Life and save Mel, even at the cost of her own life.

Mel and Stella continued to remain good friends afterwards, When Mel became estranged with the rest of her party after Edward's first wedding, she continued to speak to Stella about her current worries, namely, the Orb of Death and Nox. Stella worried that Nox was trying to manipulate Mel into fulfilling the Darkthrop Prophecy, and continuously attempted to dissuade her from seeking it.

When Stella saw that Mel was once again captured by Gyendal, she took the initiative to form a new party to rescue her. Stella risked hew own life time and time again throughout her quest. After Mel escaped from the Demon Realm and became possessed by the Staff of Destiny, Stella worried for her wellbeing and embarked on another quest to save Mel from the demonic influence of the Staff of Destiny even volunteering to take the Trials of Citrelium alone despite the risks. Once Stella returned to Underfall with the Stone of Aya, she tried to separate the Staff of Destiny from Mel. Mel attacked her and the two fought against each other once again. Stella still cared for her friend and refrained from killing her in the battle. She later cleansed Mel of her possession using the Stone of Aya. Throughout the events of the Orbs of Magic saga, Stella has travelled far and wide and fought countless and fierce battles with and for Mel, demonstrating the loyalty and endurance of their friendship.

Edward Pendragon[]

We're glad to have you, Edward.

—Stella

Depending on the player's actions, Edward is either Stella's good friend or her romantic love interest. Stella took an immediate liking to Edward after he carried her back to Thais when they first met. When Mel embarked on her quest to stop Gyendal, Stella convinced her to bring Edward along, believing his strength would prove useful in the forthcoming adventure and wanting another friend to share the journey with. Over the journey for the Orb of Light, Stella and Edward's friendship strengthened as they travelled together. Throughout his travels, Edward and Stella could develop feelings for each other. Edward could build a relationship with her by giving her numerous gifts found throughout their travels. Whenever he did so, Stella eagerly accepted the gifts, and their relationship steadily grew from a friendship to a romance. If Edward proposed to marry Stella in Pemberly Keep when their relationship was sufficiently developed, Stella eagerly accepted, and gave him a gift of her own in return. Stella gave her own life at the Memory Cave to defeat Gyendal and protect her friends, and Edward mourned her loss along with the rest of Mel's party. However, if Edward had recieved Stella's gift after their betrothal, he used it to revive Stella, and the two would hopefully marry as soon as they returned to Thais.

After the upheaval of Edward's first wedding, the relationship between Stella and Edward became strained, especially if Stella and Edward were engaged beforehand; in that case, Stella experienced a rare fit of rage and expressed her anger with Edward, After the wedding, Stella went to Moo Hatchery to relax after the tumultuous quest for the Orb of Life. Whenever Edward spoke to her, she advised him to forget seeking the Orb of Death and return to Thais to fulfill his duties as its King.

Despite these events, Stella and Edward continued to maintain their friendship. After Mel was kidnapped by Gyendal again, Stella rushed to Edward to enlist his aid in rescuing Mel. Like the quest for the Orb of Light, Stella and Edward rebuilt their friendship throughout their travels. After defeating Mordred Darkthrop and saving Mel from her demonic possession, Stella and Edward could start potentially another romantic relationship. If Edward gave her at least two gifts that Stella liked and proposed to her with the right engagement ring, Stella joyously accepted Edward's proposal, and the two were married that evening. Canonically, Stella and Edward married and became the rulers of Thais.

Te'ijal Ravenfoot[]

Your eyes are as red as rubies. How did they get that way?

I have a drinking problem.

—Stella & Te'ijal

Stella is friends with Te'ijal, and is trusting of her even while she is still a vampire. Stella expressed curiosity about Te'ijal's condition throughout their quest for the Orb of Light, to which Te'ijal gave various answers. Stella understood that Te'ijal wasn't truly a bad person despite her vampirism, and travelled and fought alongside her like the rest of Mel's party. After Te'ijal became a human, Stella continued to maintain a friendship with her, even with their contrasting personalities.

Galahad Teomes[]

Te'ijal is lucky to have a noble husband such as you.

—Stella

Stella is also friends with Galahad and respects his noble and gallant personality, which complimented her own desire to help others. She believed that he was a positive influence for Te'ijal and admired him for putting up with her antics for centuries. After Galahad was cured of his vampirism, Stella maintained the same opinion of him as before, since his personality remained largely unchanged. When Galahad became corrupted by demonic influences after escaping with Mel from the Demon Realm, Stella sought the Stone of Aya to save both he and Mel from their possession. When Galahad attacked Stella once she tried to remove the Staff of Destiny from Mel, Stella refrained from killing Galahad, briefly rendering him unconscious. Stella later cured Galahad of his possession, and parted ways with him after Edward's second wedding.

Lydia Rupert[]

I like your dress, Lydia.

Thanks. It was dreadfully expensive. If only I could return the compliment for your rags.

—Stella & Lydia

Despite Lydia's rudeness to her, Stella still tried to maintain a cordial relationship with Lydia. She graciously put up with Lydia's insults throughout the time they travelled together, and Stella would even beseech Mel's party to help her defeat a ghost pirate in the Treasure Cave. However, any goodwill Stella had towards Lydia disappeared after Edward's wedding, especially if she was betrothed to Edward after the events of Aveyond 3-2: Gates of Night. When Edward was banished from Thais, Stella told Edward that he needed to return to Thais to set things right. Despite any potential misgivings, however, Stella never retaliated against Lydia's antisocial behavior with insults or violence, instead tolerating her presence and attempting to remain polite throughout their travels together.

Ulf the Fifty-Sixth[]

You should become a university teacher, Ulf.

Thanks for the kind words, Stella. I've always wanted to become a teacher.

—Stella & Ulf

Stella liked Ulf for his intellect and genteel, and suggested that he become a university teacher in the future. Like the rest of Mel's party, Stella adventured and fought alongside Ulf as they tried to stop Gyendal from conquering the world.

Yemite[]

Darkling! Kill it!

Wait, don't hurt it! It might know something about Mel.

—Galahad & Stella

Despite Yemite being a darkling, and a soldier in Mordred Darkthrop's army of darkness, Stella did not wish to kill her immediately. She gave Yemite a chance to inform her and her party about Mel's whereabouts, and allowed her to accompany them on their journey to Underfall once Edward resolved to bring the entire group with him there. Stella and Yemite fought alongside each other, and the former refrained from enacting any violence upon the latter during this time, as she posed no threat. Soon after the completion of the Darkthrop prophecy, Yemite attacked Stella when she tried to cleanse Mel of her demonic possession. Stella eventually subdued Yemite, refraining from killing her. After the battle, Stella and Yemite did not continue their hostilities, and at least tolerated each other's presence until they parted ways after Edward's second wedding.

Gyendal Ravenfoot[]

Gyendal will pay for this. I shall kill him myself.

—Stella

Gyendal had inflicted such trauma upon Stella with his callous actions to the point where, at one point, he made Stella lose the will to live. He thus became one of the few individuals to ever incur Stella's wrath. When Stella was inflicted with amnesia, she embarked on a quest to stop Gyendal to protect Aia, but after remembering the night of her fall from Naylith, her animosity towards Gyendal became much more personal. Stella became simultaneously afraid of and angry with Gyendal ever since he tore off her wings. One one hand, she swore to kill Gyendal for taking something so vital to her identity. On the other, she became reluctant to confront him once she learned of the mind control spell he had placed her under. However, Stella's resolve to defeat Gyendal made her defy him whenever possible, causing her to heal Mel and her party after their battle with Gyendal at the Memory Cave. Stella even sacrificed her own life to stop the Lord of Twilight, allowing her friends to drag him to Thais and imprison him.

Stella never forgave Gyendal for his misdeeds as a vampire. After learning that Gyendal had captured Mel again on the Arishta Isles, Stella embarked on another long and arduous quest to rescue her friend and stop the Lord of Twilight once again, even if it meant confronting the man who had hurt her so gravely years ago.
